We're having an opening! There is a LOT of my work showing in two gallery shows from July 1 to July 28! If you're in Denver, I hope you can stop by and take a look! If life is like a roller coaster, I'm doing the loop-de-loops right now!
Normally, I create illustrations meant for publishing, but these last few months I've been seduced by the invitation to create art for gallery walls, yet maintaining an illustrative aesthetic of style and substance. That's sort of the ongoing mission of Helikon Gallery, in Denver, Colorado, as they monthly mount shows with adventurous art from around the nation.
Opening July 1, the show will be 'Parallel Universe Pictures presents...', showcasing a parallel universe where "illustration reigns supreme. No longer bound by the confines of Time and Space, artists create posters for films that exist only in their cinematic imaginations. I'm part of that show, but I'm also excited to simultaneously be in a duo show in the gallery annex, called 'Portals and Parallax', which centers around two artists in parallel universes, who view the same objective from diff...
I've been blogging for years, but for a long time now I got distracted by making friends on FaceBook. With so many exciting things going on around here, I thought I would share some of it with old and new friends!
My so-called 'day job' of illustrating for exhibits and museums is keeping me exceedingly busy, so that I have to use my quote/unquote spare time to get ready for the big gallery show that I'm in and co-curating, opening July 1 at Helikon Gallery in the River North District of beautiful Denver. I'll have several large pieces in the main gallery, mingling with other exciting work by other exciting artists. AND in the annex gallery I'm one half of the show, sharing with one of my esteemed studio partners, Willa Haller. There's an awful lot of preparation for the show (with pieces I haven't even started yet!), and I still have several commissions going on simultaneously. Plus I'm hoping to sell more copies of my new art book.
SO, as I say, exciting times, and I will be show...
